Nature reserve „Lubānas mitrājs”

Nature Reserve " Lubāna mitrājs " was created to protect the biggest Latvian inland wetland complex. It is unique natural complex of outstanding importance with many populations of protected species and habitat conservation with the European and global significance. Lubans lake and fish ponds are one of the most important migrating bird and waterfowl resting and feeding sites in the country, as well as one of the five best nesting sites for 29 endangered bird species.

Plants: Cinna latifolia (Trevir.) Griseb., Coeloglossum viride (L.) Hartm., Botrychium multifidum (S.G.Gmel.)
Invertebrates: Osmoderma eremita (Sc.), Ceruchus chrysomelinus Hoch., Cucujus cinnaberinus (Scopoli), Aeshna viridis (Eversman)
Birds: Podiceps auritus (L.), Botaurus stellaris (L.), Ciconia ciconia (L.), Ciconia nigra (L.), Tachybaptus ruficollis (Pall.)
